Following Nigeria's humiliating defeat to former European champions Portugal in the high-profile pre-World Cup friendly in Lisbon, disappointed fans of the Super Eagles took to social media to troll the team for their abysmal performance.

The Peseiro-led side were thrashed 4-0 by a Bruno Fernandes-inspired Portuguese side at a packed Estadio Jose Alvalade.

The Selecao went into halftime with a two-goal lead courtesy of a brace from the Manchester United attacking midfielder.

The Super Eagles had a chance to pull a goal back in the second half, but Emmanuel Dennis missed from the spot.

Gonçalo Ramos and João Mário added two more goals to wrap up a comprehensive victory for Fernando Santos' side.

Displeased with the result, football-loving fans of the Super Eagles took to social media to hit out at the team.

The defeat means Jose Peseiro has managed only two wins since taking over as Super Eagles coach in May.

His victories came against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe in the Nations Cup qualifiers.
