Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika will be working under the management of Scott Parker after Club Brugge appointed the former England international as the new head coach.

Raphael Onyedika flourished under the guidance of Carl Hoefkens, especially in the Champions League where the Nigerian played in all the group games to help Brugge make the knock-out rounds for the first time in the club’s history.

But Club Brugge failed to reciprocate their continental form on the domestic scene with the defending champions trailing rivals KRC Genk in the Jupiler Pro League and getting knocked out of the Belgian Cup.

The Blauw-Zwart wasted little time in showing Carl Hoefkens the exit door and Scott Parker has been drafted in as his replacement.

Scott Parker enjoyed an excellent career as a footballer, playing for Chelsea, Newcastle United, West Ham United, and Tottenham Hotspur, among others. The retired midfielder also earned 18 caps for the England national team.

Parker started his coaching career as a trainer at Tottenham’s U18 and then became an assistant coach at Fulham under Claudio Ranieri and Slavisa Jokanovic.

In February 2018, Parker became the head coach at Craven Cottage. In 2020 he secured a promotion to the Premier League with the Londoners.

After his spell at Fulham, Parker joined Bournemouth. Parker was also able to force promotion to the Premier League with The Cherries.

Club Brugge have confirmed that Parker will be introduced next week at the Belfius Basecamp.

Onyedika will hope to enjoy as much playing time under Parker as he did with Hoefkens.
