Copenhagen winger Akinwunmi Amoo has been found guilty of the allegations of sexual assault levelled against him by a Copenhagen District Court.
The sentence was confirmed by a veteran journalist Osasu Obayiuwana via a tweet on Friday, June 23.
According to excerpts from the ruling, the 20-year-old has been charged with rape in a sexual relationship other than intercourse, as well as attempted rape and violations of two more women.
Amoo received a one-year, unconditional jail sentence. The trial has been ongoing for the most part of June.
The Nigerian international was detained for sexual assault in September 2022 but was later released on bail after less than a month.
The player is however set to appeal the ruling, but it remains unclear when his legal team will launch an appeal.
