Nigerian striker Simeon Nwankwo was on target twice as Crotone claim an emphatic Serie A victory 4-1 over Benevento at the Stadio Ezio Scida on Sunday, January 17.

The 28-year-old Super Eagles forward has now recorded six goals in 18 Italian League appearances this campaign.

Though his side is still rock-bottom on the table with 12 points, a few more wins will catapult them out of the relegation zone.

Giovanni Stroppa's men took the lead just five minutes into the encounter through an own goal Kamil Glik. The defender headed the ball into his own goal while trying to stop the opponent from doing the same.

Simy doubled Crotone's lead just one minute before the half-hour mark from close-range after tapping a stray ball into the back of the net. The host maintained their two goals advantage into half-time.

It took the tall striker nine minutes after the second half resumed to complete his brace in their 18th league game of the season.

Similar to his first of the game, the Nigerian benefited from a low cross from Emmanuel Riviere and tapped into the net as they went three goals up.

Milos Vulic scored the home team's fourth goal in the 65th minute while Iago Falque's 82nd strike only ended up a mere consolation for the guests.
