Super Eagles drop five places in latest FIFA rankings

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped five places in the latest FIFA World rankings.

Jose Peseiro's side dropped from 35th to 40th position according to the new rankings released by the football governing body.

The new ranking was published by FIFA on its official website on Thursday, April 6.

The 2013 Nations Cup winners also dropped to the sixth position in Africa following a poor run of form.

Following their impressive campaign at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Morocco maintained their top spot in Africa.

The Atlas Lions were followed by African champions, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt completed the top five on the continent.

World champions, Argentina leapfrogged Brazil to become the world's number one for the first time since 2006.

World Cup finalist, France assumed second place with Brazil, Belgium and England completing the top five.


The Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, Portugal and Spain completed the top ten.
