As the Super Eagles legend turns 49 today (September 14, 2023), we look back at one of his greatest moments in the Super Eagles shirt.

Sunday Oliseh scored one of Nigeria's greatest World Cup goals against Spain at the France 1998 World Cup on June 13, 1998, to complete an astonishing comeback for the Super Eagles.

Nigeria faced Spain in their first group game in what was their second appearance at the FIFA World Cup.

Former Real Madrid defender Fernando Hiero put the Spanish ahead in the 21st minute before Mutiu Adepoju equalized for Nigeria three minutes later.

Madrid legend Raul Gonzalez restored Spain's lead in the second half before an own goal from Andoni Zubizarreta levelled the score for Nigeria again.

Oliseh would later steal all the headlines with his 78th-minute wonder strike following a rebound from a corner kick to beat Zubizarreta at the near post.

Oliseh's winner ensured that Nigeria kicked off their World Cup campaign in a stunning fashion.

The Super Eagles legend while responding to a FIFA trivia on Twitter in 2018 described the goal as “One of my best moments in life.”
