No player is bigger than a club, but some world-class footballers were kicked out of clubs in the most disrespectful manner.

While clubs have applauded the services players produced over the years, others have poorly treated some of their stars.

Paris Saint-Germain recently excluded Kylian Mbappe from the squad, and fans are upset about the treatment meted out to the World Cup winner.

It is unfair, given how footballers give their everything to bring success to these clubs, and here we look at five world-class players who were kicked out of their clubs.

5. Yaya Toure - Manchester City

Shortly after the Abu Dhabi takeover, Yaya Toure signed for Manchester City, and the former Barcelona player flourished at the club.

Things, however, changed for him following the arrival of Pep Guardiola. The Spanish manager joined the club in 2016, and Toure played just ten league games in the 2017/2018 season.

Yaya was also left out of the club’s Champions League squad, which infuriated the player’s agent, who blasted the manager.

Due to his limited opportunities at City, Toure was forced to leave the club in 2018.

4. Mesut Ozil – Arsenal

The playmaker was one of the most magical players during his prime. Ozil was agile and incredible when it came to creating goals. He left Real Madrid to join Arsenal in 2013.

He was impressive under Arsene Wenger, but after the manager left the club, the player struggled to feature in matches.

The biggest World Cup snubs: A list of footballers left out of their countries’ World Cup squad.

Ozil was practically not in the plans of Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta. Emery cited how Ozil lacked motivation, commitment and professionalism, and after the manager left, Arteta was appointed just after the Covid-19 pandemic.

All Arsenal players were subject to a pay cut, but Ozil refused before he was later forced to push a move away from Arsenal to Fenerbache.

3. Iker Casillas - Real Madrid

Casillas was a loyal goalkeeper at Real Madrid, having moved through the ranks at the club. He was very committed from day one.

The goalkeeper featured in over 700 games for the Spanish giants and was prepared to retire at his boyhood club.

At some point, the club president Florentino Perez wanted to bring in Manchester United's David De Gea or Juventus' Gianluigi Buffon, Sport Skeeda reports.

Casillas' parents claimed that the club chief was forcing their son out. Sadly, the legendary goalkeeper left to join Porto.

2 Sergio Ramos - Real Madrid

Sergio Ramos joined from Sevilla in 2005, and the Spaniard was a regular for the club and had a major influence.

Even though he played in the defence, he led from the front, making him one of the greatest defenders of all time. After his contract ended, the player wanted a two-year deal, but Madrid could offer him just a year contract.

Having spent 15 years at the club, many expected better treatment for the player who later left to join PSG.

1. Luis Suarez - Barcelona

In 2014, Luis Suarez left Premier League club Liverpool to join Barcelona and played alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar.

The trio formed what many branded as the deadliest striking force in world football. Just before the start of the 2021/2022 season, the Uruguayan was not in the books of Ronald Koeman, who deemed him too old.

The manager had a one-minute call with the striker and made it clear he would need to look for other clubs.

Luis Suarez was reduced to tears by Barcelona’s treatment of him in his final weeks at the club before leaving for La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.
