Sevilla not rushing Adams transfer decision

La Liga side Sevilla FC are in no rush to decide on the potential sale of Akor Adams and other players, despite growing interest in the Nigerian striker, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

After a turbulent season in which they navigated a financial crisis and avoided relegation by just three points, Sevilla are continuing to shape an ambitious summer rebuild under manager Luis Plaza as plans intensify for a major squad overhaul.

According to Spanish sports daily AS, Adams is among the players attracting significant interest, having emerged as one of Sevilla’s most valuable attacking assets.

French side Olympique de Marseille have emerged as frontrunners for the Super Eagles striker, with Sevilla placing a €30m valuation on him.

The fee would represent a remarkable return on the €5.5m Sevilla paid Montpellier HSC to sign Adams in January 2025. The 26-year-old has established himself as one of the Andalusian club’s key players after an initially slow start to life in Spain.

After registering 10 goals and three assists in 32 La Liga appearances last season, the Nigeria international has attracted interest from several clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

However, reports from Spain indicate that Sevilla are not in a hurry to make a decision on Adams or several other players.

The club must generate funds through player sales, reduce its wage bill and comply with La Liga’s financial regulations before registering new signings.

According to the report, Premier League side Fulham FC are also monitoring the situation. A move to Craven Cottage would see Adams reunite with fellow Nigerians Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi.

Fulham are in the market for a striker after failing to sign Ricardo Pepi and allowing Raul Jimenez to leave following the expiration of his contract.

Clubs from Saudi Arabia have also made enquiries, although Adams is understood to prefer remaining in Europe, which could rule out a move to the Gulf.

Should a deal be concluded at the reported valuation, Adams would become the third-most expensive player ever sold by Sevilla, behind Jules Kounde’s €50m move to FC Barcelona and Diego Carlos’ €31m transfer to Aston Villa.
