Serie A: Osimhen wins Footballer of the Year Award

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has won the Italian Footballers’ Association (AIC) Footballer of the Year.

This comes following Osimhen's remarkable season with Napoli.

The 24-year-old guided the Naples-based club to their Scudetto title in 33 years.

The Super Eagles star netted 26 goals in 31 Serie A outings to become the first African star to win the Capocannoniere award.

He was voted the best Serie A striker at the end of last season.

Despite enduring a difficult start to the new campaign, Osimhen was the preferred candidate for the prestigious award.

The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gianluigi Buffon, and Rafael Leao have all won the award in the past.
