Serie A: Napoli confirm Osimhen’s return

Napoli sporting director Mauro Meluso has confirmed Victor Osimhen’s return to Italy.

Osimhen spent a couple of weeks in Nigeria, where he had been sorting out a personal matter regarding his brother-in-law, who is suing him for unpaid commission on the transfer from Lille.

The 24-year-old picked up an injury in Nigeria’s friendly against Saudi Arabia last month.

The 24-year-old picked up an injury in Nigeria’s friendly against Saudi Arabia last month.

“Osimhen is back. The medics will evaluate him tomorrow to see when he will be back on the field; it was predicted to be five or six weeks out when he first suffered the injury,” Meluso was quoted by Football Italia.

Osimhen’s absence also raised more questions about the lack of a new contract agreement.

But Meluso said talks are still ongoing with the forward’s representatives.

“We have been talking about his contract for months, so even if the negotiations are getting on a bit, we will continue along the right path to take,” he added.
