Samuel Kalu wants out of Bordeaux

Transfer guru Manu Lonjon has confirmed that there have been negotiations between Fenerbahce and Super Eagles star Samuel Kalu to team up with the Turkish side. Still, transfer talks have stalled with Bordeaux not keen on a loan deal.

The Ligue 1 side are understood to be interested in the outright sale of the talented attacker and not a loan deal, with a transfer fee of €10 million expected from any buyer for the 22-year-old who cost the French club €8.5 million in 2018.

That scenario presents a challenge for Fenerbahce, who, though interested in signing Kalu, are not financially buoyant enough to cough out such a hefty sum.

Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr recently revealed that Kalu would stay at Bordeaux.

However, respected transfer voice Lonjon insists, as quoted by Girondins4ever, that Kalu’s agents have been working on getting Bordeaux to sanction the sale of the Nigerian star.

“It’s on standby. There was indeed a discussion, that’s for sure, between Fenerbahce and Samuel Kalu,” Lonjon said.

“It is also certain that Kalu’s entourage made inquiries with the Bordeaux board to find out what their expectations are. But everything is on standby.

“However, there was no conclusion.

“Obviously, in the idea, Bordeaux would prefer a transfer.

“Now, clubs capable of putting €10m on Samuel Kalu, there aren’t many, and it won’t be Fener, that’s for sure. If it must be done, it will be, for example, by a paying loan, with an option to buy.

“But Fener will never pay a transfer. It is no more in their habits.”

Despite the change in manager at Bordeaux with Jean-Louis Gasset replacing Paulo Sousa, Kalu has still not started any game for the side this term, coming in from the bench in the two matches played so far.
