Ronaldo ruled out of Super Eagles clash

Want-away Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has been ruled out of Nigeria's clash with Portugal on Thursday, November 17 (today).

According to reports, the Portuguese captain who is suffering from a stomach bug did not train on Wednesday and will be left out of Coach Fernando Santos' squad to face Nigeria.

“He is suffering from gastroenteritis and will not train today for this reason,” Fernando Santos told a press conference on Wednesday.

“He won’t be ready (to face Nigeria), he’s resting, as you know, gastritis takes a lot out of players.”

This comes amid the hullabaloo surrounding the five-time Ballon d'Or explosive interview with Piers Morgan on his stay at Manchester United and his strained relationship with manager Erik Ten Haag and some other Manchester United players.

Ronaldo is likely to return to action a week today (November 27) when the Selecao's begin their World Cup campaign against the Black Stars of Ghana.

The Super Eagles will lock horns with a 'Ronaldo-less' Portuguese side at the Estadio sold-out Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon.
