Cristiano Ronaldo's recent form for the Portuguese national team has helped them move up on the latest FIFA World Rankings as the Super Eagles of Nigeria maintain their previous position.

The former Real Madrid star has been in good form for both club and country in recent months, and it has shown in Portugal's new rankings.

The Portuguese national team captain scored three goals in their two Euro qualification games against Slovakia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in October.

Roberto Martinez's side moved two places on the new ranking and are now the sixth-best team in the world, behind Argentina, France, Brazil, England, and Belgium.

Nigeria, on the other hand, failed to improve in the new FIFA rankings as they remained 40th in the world and sixth best in Africa, according to a report by Soccernet.

Jose Peseiro's men, in their recent games, played out a 2-2 draw against Saudi Arabia and a 3-2 win over Mozambique in international friendlies.

The Super Eagles are behind the top five teams in Africa: Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt.

Nigeria's next game would be the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho in Uyo and Zimbabwe in Kigali.

Portugal's next matches would be against Liechtenstein and Iceland in the UEFA Euro Qualifiers in November.
