Gernot Rohr insists Amaju Pinnick is the man behind the failure of the Super Eagles to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Rohr stated that the decision of the board to terminate his appointment a few months before the final playoff against Ghana, was disastrous and the players paid for it.

Recalled then NFF board led by Amaju Pinnick fired Gernot Rohr in December 2021, just two months before the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon and three months before the final World Cup qualification playoff with the Black Stars of Ghana.

The Super Eagles however crashed out of the AFCON in the round of 16, before losing to World cup ticket to Ghana on away rule.

“Pinnick said my dismissal will avert a disaster, but in the end, he created the disaster that cost Nigeria the ticket to the World Cup,” Rohr said on Eagle7FM in an interview anchored by Osasu Obayiuwana.

“I regret that I did not take my team to win the World Cup, I regret my players will not be at the World Cup even though they deserve to be there.

“It was not my decision, it was a decision by Pinnick and his board.

“He was punished for this as Nigeria lost the chance to win the AFCON and did not qualify for the World Cup.

“I hope he takes better decisions now as a member of the FIFA Council.”

Gernot Rohr still searching for a job since his dismissal.
