Super Eagles defender, Calvin Bassey has described the experience of representing the national team as a dream come true.

The 22-year-old is enjoying a good time under new Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro after enduring a difficult start to his international career with Nigeria.

Bassey debuted for the Super Eagles against Ghana in the first leg of World Cup qualifiers on March 25.

The Leicester City academy product was one of Nigeria's best performers last season.

His versatility in defence makes him an important asset to Rangers boss Giovanni Van Bronckhorst.

“We have over 200 million people behind our back every time we go on to the pitch. And just being able to make the 25 players in the squad representing them is a dream come true.”

“We’ve got important games coming up I just want to help the team any way I can,” He said.

Bassey was voted man of the match in the finals of the Europa League against Eintracht Frankfurt and the Scottish Cup finals against Hearts.

He made a total of 50 appearances in all competitions for Glasgow Ranger last season.

Bassey has so far won 6 caps for the Super Eagles.
