Remo Stars spokesperson, Oladimeji Oshode, says the club’s immediate target is to return to the Nigeria Professional Football League next season.

The Ijebu-based club last played in the topflight league in the 2016/17 season and were relegated after finishing bottom of the league table with 29 points.

Speaking with The PUNCH, Oladimeji said the club would strive hard to ensure that they returned to the topflight league.

He said, “Like it has always been the tradition of the club, we always aim for success and for us to rate our success this season, we have to gain promotion back to the Nigeria Professional Football League because that is where we belong.

“Remo Stars have been known for good football, this season the number one target is to do everything within our reach, in line with the rules and regulations of the competition, to gain promotion back to the topflight league.

Oladimeji added that players and staff of the club had undergone the mandatory COVID-19 tests and returned negative.

“We’ve done the COVID-19 test twice and the players are clean. We did one privately for ourselves and the state government also did for the clubs in Ogun State, with Remo Stars inclusive. We have no casualty from the two tests.”
