Yekini is widely regarded as the most prolific striker Nigeria has ever seen.

The legendary striker is Nigeria's all-time top scorer with 37 international goals in 62 appearances.

Yekini was voted the African Footballer of the Year in 1993.

He scored Nigeria's first-ever World Cup goal against Bulgaria in the United States of America, he celebrated the goal in style as he clenched onto the net and screamed loud to the heavens in what has become the most iconic and memorable picture of his career.

Yekini is one among three others to have scored four times in a single game for the Super Eagles.

He played for quite a number of clubs at both the local and international levels scoring 483 goals in 673 appearances.

His untimely death occurred on May 4, 2012, at age of 48.
