Nigeria Professional Football League Legend, Rabiu Ali, has shared the secrets to his longevity as there are no signs of him retiring anytime soon.

The 43-year-old, who has played his professional football for Kano Pillars since 2009, says he will quit when it is time.

The 18-cap Nigerian international disclosed that he has always made conscious efforts to avoid womanising which has been beneficial to his career.

In a chat with Nigerian outlet Punch, Ali added that being a devout Muslim has also helped him avoid alcohol.

He said: "And you know as a Muslim, I do everything it takes to avoid any form of vices that will affect my health, for instance, womanising, drinking alcohol, and all sorts."

Amid calls for his retirement, the midfielder stated that he still enjoys the game, suggesting that his health status is still good for football. He added:

"Football is something you enjoy doing, so, when it’s time to quit your body will give you the signals that you’re tired.

"So, this long time I took in playing football is not something I did for myself or someone did but it is God’s privilege and His will.

"I also take heed to advice from the coaching crew, which is quite beneficial to my health status and it has aided my longevity in the
