After failing to pick up a win in their first game, two stoppage-time goals ensured that Iran edged Wales 2-0 in their second Group B encounter at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

After their 6-2 thumping of England, Iran have managed to bounce back from that defeat to squeeze out a win at the dying embers of the game against Gareth Bale's Wales side at the Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium.

Two late goals from Cheshmi and Rezaeian gave the Iranians their first three points of the tournament.

The win boosts Iran's chances of qualifying from Group B which has England and the USA.

The western Asian side will take on the United States of America in their final group game.
