Premier League’s most expensive XI of 2023 summer transfer window

The 2023 summer transfer window officially shut on Friday, September 1.

The window saw all the 20 Premier League teams seal some decent transfers in a bid to strengthen their squads in preparation for the new season.

According to The Sun, EPL clubs spent a whopping £2.44billion on new players, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United among the most active clubs, with the English giants completing mouthwatering deals.

Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice were among the most expensive signings this summer, with both the Gunners and the Blues splashing out huge fees to land the midfielders.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea forked out an eyewatering £115m to land the Ecuadorian from Brighton in what was a British transfer record fee.

Rice's £105m sensational move to the Emirates Stadium from West Ham United had initially seen him hold the record before Caicedo shattered it.

Goalkeeper: Andre Onana

The Cameroonian shotstopper was the most expensive goalkeeper, with the ex-Inter Milan goalkeeper arriving at Old Trafford for £47.2m.

Onana was signed to replace David de Gea, who departed Man United at the end of last season.

Jurrien Timber

The Dutchman swapped Ajax for Arsenal in a £39m summer deal.

Timber had been a long-term transfer target for Man United but decided against reuniting with Erik ten Hag at the Theatre of Dreams.

Joško Gvardiol

Manchester City splashed a whopping £77m to sign Joško Gvardiol from RB Leipzig.

Pep Guardiola was keen to strengthen his defence after he lost Joao Cancelo.

Micky van de Ven

Van de Ven sealed a move to the Premier League with Tottenham in a £43m.
