Portugal friendly: Super Eagles predicted starting XI

Super Eagles XI Super Eagles XI

As the Super Eagles prepare to take on Euro 2016 champions Portugal in a pre-World Cup friendly, mynigeria.com takes a look at how Coach Jose Peseiro could set up against the Selecaos.

Goalkeeper

Omonia Nicosia shot-stopper Francis Uzoho will most likely start in post ahead of Maduka Okoye and Adebayo Adeleye.

The 23-year-old has been in great form for his club side in recent times, one may make reference to his masterclass performance against Manchester United in the Europa League.

Defence

Stand-in captain William Troost-Ekong and Hoffenheim's Kevin Akpoguma will start at the heart of defence.

Troost-Ekong has been a regular for Watford in the Championship in recent times whereas Akpoguma has been consistent in the Bundesliga.

Calvin Bassey and Tyronne Ebuehi will start as fullbacks for Coach Jose Peseiro's side.

Tyronne Ebuehi will start at right back for injured Ola Aina whereas Bassey will undoubtedly occupy the left back position.

Midfield

In-form Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi and Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi are likely to play as double pivots in central midfield.

Iwobi has been Everton's best player this season and Ndidi is likely to make his return to the Super Eagles line-up after a long absence.

On the flanks will be Atalanta's Ademola Lookman and Nantes' Moses Simon.

Lookman has been phenomenal for Gian Piero Gasperini's side since joining the club in the summer transfer window.

Simon has also been in good shape for Nantes. The Super Eagles winger has so far managed 5 goals and 2 assists for Nantes this season.

Strikers

Lorient's Terem Moffi and Genk's Paul Onuachu are the two favourites to start up front ahead of Cyriel Dessers, Emmanuel Dennis and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Moffi has been in brilliant form in the French Ligue 1 whereas Onuachu has been outstanding for Genk in the Belgium Pro League.

Formation: 4-4-2

Starting line-up: Uzoho, Troost-Ekong, Bassey, Ebuehi, Ndidi, Iwobi, Lookman, Simon, Onuachu, and Moffi.

The game will kick off at 7:45 pm local time at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon.
