Southampton midfielder Joe Aribo and Stoke City midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo are set to return to the Super Eagles team for the friendly against Portugal.

The midfield duo was missing in action when Nigeria played Algeria in an international friendly in September.

Etebo, 26, didn't receive a call-up from Jose Peseiro due to a lack of playing time at the club level.

Aribo on the other hand requested to be excused from the friendly as he wanted to settle in well at his new side Southampton.

Other key players who are expected to be in action against the winners of the 2016 Euros are Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Ahmed Musa, Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, William Troost-Ekong, among other players.

Mohammed Sanusi, General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has disclosed that Jose Peseiro has compiled his list for the upcoming friendly games.

“We have a friendly match against Portugal coming up in Lisbon on November 17,” he said.

“Peseiro has compiled a provisional list and is only waiting for this weekend’s matches to submit his list of 23 players. We have a cordial relationship with the coach. He is doing his job and focused on his objectives.”

Nigeria will take on the Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portuguese side in Lisbon on Thursday, November 17.
