Pochettino responds to Chelsea boos as Blues record second worst start to EPL season

Mauricio Pochettino has responded to Chelsea fans' boos following their drab draw against Bournemouth on Sunday.

The Blues have failed to hit the ground running since the start of the new season, with the west Londoners managing a paltry five points in five of their opening matches of the new season.

Pochettino's men were hoping to return to winning ways when they faced the Cherries at the Vitality Stadium this weekend, having lost 1-0 in their last outing against Nottingham Forest before the international break.

However, the 2021 Champions League winners were unable to pick up maximum points, as they settled for a goalless draw.

According to talkSPORT, the result means that Chelsea have made their second-worst start ever in the Premier League era.

The only other time they had a worse start to a season was during the 2015/16 campaign, when they took just four points from five matches.

Meanwhile, their draw against Bournemouth saw a section of Chelsea fans boo the team after the full-time whistle as they openly expressed their frustrations.

Pochettino has now responded to the jeers, with the Argentine admitting that the supporters are justified in showing their disappointment with the team.

"I think the fans know if you invest the type of money, there is expectation. What I can tell the fans is the circumstance, I cannot change the reality. With all of the squad fit we can compete, we don't have all of the squad available, what can we do?" Pochettino posed.

"We have our opinion, our reality. I think we are doing good things, more than people can expect but I told you before the season, Chelsea is about the win. Young players need to feel what it means to be a Chelsea player," he added, via The Mirror.
