Perpetua Nkwocha and other Nigerians voted against Asisat Oshoala in CAF Awards

It has been revealed that Super Falcons legend, Perpetual Nkwocha, voted against Asisat Oshoala in the just concluded CAF Awards for Best African Player of the Year.

The event which took place in Egypt saw Oshoala beat Cameroon's Ajara Nchout and South Africa's Thembi Kgatlana to equal Perpetua's record of being a four-time winner.

Reacting to the feat pulled by Oshoala who had a wonderful season with Barcelona, Perpetua congratulated her on social media.

She wrote: "I remember vividly when you were asked in an interview who you looked up to as a young star and you called my name," Nkwocha wrote on her Instagram page on Wednesday.

"I smiled because I've seen you play. Hmmm, what do you do if Messi says he looks up to you?? You just smile. Congratulations Star girl. Make and break the records girl. The world at your feet."

However, it has been revealed that she and the other four Nigerians who voted in the contest voted against Oshoala. Perpetua voted her to emerge fifth.

Ahmed Fresh of NFF Technical Committee didn't vote at all. Journalist Osasu Obayiwana voted for Oshoala to come third; Chisom Mboni voted her to come 2nd, while Tunde Adelakun also voted her to come second.
