PSG reluctant to grant Messi’s World Cup request amid Mbappe jitters

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly rejected Lionel Messi's request to parade the World Cup trophy at the Parc Des Princes. Reports indicate that PSG are concerned about the possible feelings the ceremony could evoke in Kylian Mbappe.

Messi inspired Argentina to beat Mbappe's France in the World Cup final on December 18.

Both PSG forwards starred, with Mbappe's hat-trick proving not to be enough to win back-to-back world titles.

Messi scored twice but finished behind Mbappe in the Golden Boot rankings. However, he was awarded the Golden Ball award.

Goal now reports that the veteran has requested to parade the trophy in Paris when he comes back from his mini-holiday.

The club is wary of granting this request in the same country beaten to win the World Cup, plus how Mbappe could feel about the whole spectacle.

Argentina's celebrations have been overzealous in nature, with Mbappe savagely targeted by both players and fans.

The young striker and PSG share a tricky relationship, as he nearly left for Real Madrid last season, with rumours once again indicating he might just force a move away in January.
