Paris Saint-Germain are plotting to hijack Victor Osimhen’s proposed return to Galatasaray as Napoli have excluded the Nigerian striker from their pre-season training camp, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The 26-year-old has officially returned to Naples after his loan agreement with Galatasaray ended, but finds himself amongst six players omitted from the 30-man squad heading to Dimaro Folgarida for pre-season preparations under new coach Antonio Conte.
Osimhen had sent a medical note ruling him out of pre-season medical tests as he pushes for a permanent transfer to Galatasaray following his impressive loan spell where he scored 37 goals in 41 appearances.
However, PSG sporting director Luis Campos has allegedly been in direct conversation with the Nigerian, according to L’Equipe, as the Ligue 1 club look to spring a surprise hijack of the deal.
Campos, who signed Osimhen for LOSC Lille in 2019, already has a relationship with the forward and could complicate Galatasaray’s plans to secure a permanent €75m deal for the striker.
The Turkish champions are reportedly hashing out the structure of the transfer with Napoli, with Osimhen described as being ‘open’ to the move despite a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed negotiations are ongoing, writing on X on Thursday, “Negotiations between Napoli and Galatasaray for Victor Osimhen are again underway right now.
“Napoli sent their counter-proposal to Galatasaray, ready to make decision soon on new conditions. Osimhen keeps waiting.”
However, Bruno Satin, the former agent of Osimhen’s old Napoli teammate Kalidou Koulibaly, has voiced his disagreement with a potential PSG move.
“Osimhen? I don’t know if PSG can count on him,” he told radio channel Kiss Kiss Napoli, as quoted by Le10Sport.
“Luis Enrique’s first choice isn’t to have a traditional striker; he always prefers to use (Ousmane) Dembele as a ‘false nine.’ Signing Victor would make him a starter, which could complicate the mechanisms already in place with the Frenchman.”
Napoli have maintained their €75m valuation for Osimhen despite his release clause expiring on Tuesday. The Serie A club are seeking an upfront fee close to €50m with the remaining €25m to be paid by the end of 2026.
Galatasaray have agreed to provide Napoli with a letter of credit to ensure full payment, though bureaucratic processes could delay the deal by several days.
Others excluded from Napoli’s pre-season camp include Cyril Ngonge, Walid Cheddira, Jesper Lindstrom, Michael Folorunsho, Jens Cajuste and Giuseppe Ambrosino.
