Osimhen reveals meaning behind hand gesture goal celebration

Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has opened up on the meaning behind his hand gesture goal celebration.

The 23-year-old silenced the fans at the Stadio Olimpico with his 80th-minute strike as Napoli beat AS Roma by a lone goal in the Italian Serie A on Sunday, October 23.

Osimhen returned to the starting XI for the first time after suffering a severe hamstring injury against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League on September 7.

The in-form striker had scored in his last two matches for Napoli when he was introduced as a substitute against Ajax and Bologna.

After his unbelievable strike from a nearly impossible angle against Jose Mourinho's side, Osimhen pointed his right finger to the heavens, a gesture which has left many fans guessing its meaning.

“The hand gesture is for my daughter and girlfriend, the Napoli talisman said as per Goal.com

“Every time I score a goal, I dedicate it to them. They are the most important thing to me. Those five weeks out were tough for me, but they gave me the motivation to keep going.”

Osimhen's strike cemented Napoli's position at the top of Serie A with 29 points after 11 matches, two points more than Italian champions AC Milan.
