Osimhen returns to training after Liverpool injury

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has resumed training after he sustained a hamstring injury against Liverpool in their Champions League group opener on Wednesday, September 7.

The 23-year-old limped off the pitch in the 41st minute as his side thumped the Reds by 4-1 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium to get their Champions League campaign off to a blistering start.

Osimhen has so far missed three games for Napoli. He missed his side's wins against Spezia and AC Milan in the Serie A and against Glasgow Rangers in the UEFA Champions League.

According to reports by Calcio Napoli, the Nigerian international resumed training on Tuesday, September 27 alongside teammate Matteo Politano, who scored from the spot against Milan.

“Training resumed yesterday (Monday) with Osimhen and Politano, who are continuing in their respective recovery tables,” the report stated.

Despite resuming training, Napoli is in no hurry to throw the ex-Lille striker on the pitch. According to reports, Osimhen will only be available for Napoli's clash against Cremonese on October 9 and their return fixture against Ajax in UCL.

“Osimhen is about to return, there are still a few days left, something more than a week, to see him on the pitch to train with his teammates.

“To see him again in the stadiums, in Italy and Europe, we will have to wait a little more, probably at least until October 9, the date of the match against Cremonese, round-trip matches with Ajax in the Champions League,” Tuttonapoli
reports.

Osimhen scored two goals and provided one assist for Napoli before he was sidelined.
