Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has emerged as one of Barcelona’s leading alternative transfer targets should the Spanish champions fail to sign Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez this summer.
Barcelona remain determined to strengthen head coach Hansi Flick’s attack ahead of the new season, with Álvarez still their primary target. However, negotiations have become increasingly difficult, forcing the Catalan club to draw up a list of contingency options.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s opening offer of €100m for the Argentina international was rejected by Atlético Madrid, who are demanding €120m and the inclusion of a high-profile player in the deal.
The Blaugrana are unwilling to meet those conditions, leaving the transfer at a standstill while club officials evaluate other strikers capable of leading the line next season.
Among the players under consideration, Osimhen has emerged as one of Barcelona’s strongest alternatives should a move for Álvarez collapse.
The Nigerian international is understood to be highly rated by the club because of his prolific goalscoring record and his profile as a traditional centre-forward.
Osimhen enjoyed another impressive campaign after completing a permanent €75m move from Napoli to Galatasaray in 2025, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers.
Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martínez has also featured in Barcelona’s internal discussions, although his contractual situation is expected to make any deal difficult.
Brazilian forward João Pedro, previously regarded as one of the best tactical fits for Flick’s system, has become a more complicated option in recent weeks.
Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy also remains on Barcelona’s shortlist, with part of the interest driven by a release clause available only to a select group of Europe’s elite clubs, despite Dortmund’s determination to retain him.
England captain Harry Kane has equally been mentioned as a potential option, but the Bayern Munich striker is reportedly settled in Germany, while the financial outlay required to secure his services is viewed as a major obstacle.
Juventus striker Dusan Vlahović, despite being linked with Barcelona on several occasions in recent years, is not currently regarded as one of the club’s preferred options.
Despite assessing alternative targets, Barcelona’s priority remains Álvarez. The club’s ongoing evaluation of other strikers is understood to be part of its transfer strategy to ensure it can quickly pursue other options if negotiations with Atlético Madrid fail to progress.
