Osimhen eager to play against Lecce amid injury concerns

Despite concerns surrounding his fitness, Victor Osimhen has expressed his desire to feature in Napoli's next Serie A fixture against Lecce on Friday, April 7.

According to reports, the 24-year-old was willing to travel with the team to Lecce for Napoli's Matchday 29 fixture at Stadio Via del mare.

The 24-year-old sustained a muscle injury while on international duty with Nigeria in the Nations Cup qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau.

Osimhen missed Napoli's last game against AC Milan in the Serie A last weekend as the champions thumped the leaders 4-0 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Italian publication, Tuttonapoli reports that the Serie A top scorer was ready to make himself available to Luciano Spalletti's side ahead of their clash against Lecce.

The report added that the ex-Lille international has disposed of the pain related to the muscle injury to the adductor, but Napoli prefers to be cautious and not risk their talisman ahead of their crucial UCL clash at the San Siro.

Napoli will hope to bounce back to winning ways following their 4-0 heavy defeat to Milan on Sunday, April 2.
