Victor Osimhen landed the sucker punch to end a 33-year journey for the Parthenopeans as Napoli confirmed their status as the new Serie A champions.

The 24-year-old scored a second-half equalizer for the Serie A leaders away at Udinese as the Dacia Arena - Stadio Friuli erupted into wild celebrations.

The Super Eagles striker who is the leading top scorer in Serie A moved his goal tally this season to 22 goals in 27 league appearances.

However, not only did Osimhen's goal deliver the much-awaited Scudetto title, but it also broke Samuel Eto's record.

With 22 goals, Victor Osimhen has now scored more Serie A goals this season than any African player has ever managed in an Italian top-flight campaign.

The Naples-based side wrapped up their campaign with five matches to spare as their 1-1 draw against Udinese was enough to secure the league title.

It is also significant to note that Osimhen equalled George Weah's record as the African player with the most Serie A goals (46).
