Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen and Super Falcons captain Asisat Oshoala, have both expressed their desire to win their categories at the CAF Awards.

While Osimhen was nominated for the African Youth Player of the Year award alongside fellow Nigerian Samuel Chukwueze and Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, Oshoala is in contention for the Women’s Player of the Year award alongside Cameroon’s Ajara Nchout and South Africa’s Thembi Kgatlana.

In separate interviews with our correspondent, both players said they were happy to be nominated for the awards.

They, however, said they were not under any pressure and believed the best player would emerge winner.

The former Wolfsburg striker also expressed his delight to be nominated for the African Youth Player of the Year award for a second time.

The Eagles star won the award in 2015.

“For me, I will always be positive, so, I wish myself the best to win. But of course, we have Samuel Chukwueze and Hakimi who are very good and talented players, any one of us that wins it deserves it,” Osimhen told The PUNCH.

Basically for me, it’s just to keep playing my game, having fun and enjoying my career and whatever comes after will only be an achievement,” Oshoala also told The PUNCH.

The winners will be announced at the CAF Awards ceremony on January 7, 2020, at the Albatros Citadel SahlHasheesh, Hurghada, Egypt.
