Onyedika stars in Frankfurt’s 11-0 win

Raphael Onyedika starred as Eintracht Frankfurt thrashed SC St. Tönis eleven-nil to open their 2026/27 competitive campaign with the biggest win in the club’s DFB-Pokal history, the Super Eagles midfielder earning a 9.1 rating on SofaScore as Frankfurt controlled proceedings from start to finish in Friday’s first-round tie.

Only three of the 32 players involved, Jonathan Burkardt, Can Uzun and Robin Koch, outscored Onyedika on the night.

Burkardt, who scored three goals and set up two more, and Uzun, who scored twice and provided three assists, both picked up perfect 10.0 ratings, while Koch added a goal from centre-back to finish with 9.3.

Frankfurt raced into a two-nil lead inside the opening ten minutes through corners, with Burkardt heading home in the fourth minute before Koch doubled the advantage in the 10th.

Ayoube Amaimouni made it three in the 17th minute before Burkardt struck again in the 29th, and Uzun then scored twice in the space of two minutes either side of the half-hour mark.

Burkardt completed his hat-trick in the forty-first minute, and further goals from Elias Baum, Younes Ebnoutalib and Mario Götze took Frankfurt into the break 10-0 up, the highest half-time score in the competition’s history. Farès Chaïbi added an 11th goal in the 87th minute to complete the rout, with Hütter using the closing stages to hand debut minutes to youngsters Jeremiah Maluze and Malik Pimpong.

As Frankfurt’s defensive midfielder, Onyedika’s contribution playing the full 90 minutes came not from goals but from shielding the back line and helping the Bundesliga side move the ball forward, giving the likes of Burkardt and Uzun the freedom to push on.

Onyedika joined Frankfurt from Club Brugge this month on a contract until 2031, arriving in Germany with 24 Champions League appearances and four seasons of regular football in Belgium behind him.

The result sends Frankfurt into the second round of the DFB-Pokal and gives the Nigerian a strong start to life at the club.
