Onazi set to join Serie A side

Nigerian midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi, 27, is set to join Serie A newcomers Crotone, complete sports reports.

This comes after Onazi terminated his contract with Turkish Super Lig outfit Denizlispor last month.

He becomes the latest Super Eagles player to terminate his contract with a Turkish outfit after former captain, Mikel Obi.

Onazi who linked up with Denizlispor from another Turkish side Trabzonspor in January, made nine league appearances for the club, said Complete Sports.

According to TMW, Onazi is close to agreeing a deal with Crotone after weeks of negotiation between both parties.

Crotone were promoted to the Italian top-flight last season after finishing second in Serie B behind Benevento Calcio.

Onazi started his professional career at Serie A club Lazio in 2012.

He scored four goals in 76 league appearances for the club before linking up with Trabzonspor in 2016.
