Former Super Eagles defender Sunday Oliseh has attributed Liverpool's inconsistency this season to the transfer of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich.

Mané, 31, joined the Bundesliga title holders in June for a reported fee of €32m which could potentially rise to €41m in add-ons.

The Senegalese International spent 6 seasons at Anfield winning the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

The reigning African Footballer of the Year managed 90 goals in 196 appearances in all competitions for the Reds before joining the German champions last summer.

Jurgen Klopp's side have been in erratic form all season despite the club bringing in some fine attacking talents like Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo.

Sharing his thoughts after Liverpool's 6-1 thrashing of Leeds United on Monday night, the ex-Super Eagles coach blamed Liverpool's lack of momentum this season on the absence of the ex-Southampton man from the team.

“Mané was instrumental in every aspect of Liverpool’s success since day one in 2016,” Oliseh said on SundayOlisehtv.

“Liverpool has struggled in all departments and I am totally convinced, if this 2022 World’s best player Runner Up had still been at Liverpool and healthy, Liverpool would be singing a different song now,” he said.

Liverpool are currently 12 points adrift of a top 4 place in the Premier League this term.
