Football-loving Nigerians have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the resignation of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Ibrahim Gusau and his board members.
Gusau, alongside members of the NFF Executive Committee, announced their resignation at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, August 27.
The latest development comes against the backdrop of the Super Falcons' failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup and the team's abysmal performance at the recently concluded Africa Women's Cup of Nations.
The ten-time African champions were dumped out in the quarter-finals by eventual winners Cameroon and also failed to secure a World Cup ticket after losing to South Africa in the playoffs.
The recent woes of the national teams have been compounded by the Super Eagles' failure to qualify for two consecutive FIFA World Cups.
There have been growing calls for the Gusau-led administration to step down in recent weeks, a call which has finally been heeded by the NFF chief and his board members.
Check out how Nigerians on social media reacted to the news of the long-anticipated resignation.

Another user, @Naijawatcho1, said:
“No more politicians running our football, if we want to move ahead, this Gusau of a guy did lots of damage to Nigerian football, he introduced quota system into our game, instead of talent-based selection, little wonder our under 17, 20, 23 struggled to qualify for W/cups”
@stan_simplicity tweeted:
“Please get these men arrested asap. They have a lot of questions to answer and must provide all the money they've stolen while occupying those positions. We must hold them accountable so others coming afterwards can learn. Thieves.”

“...That guy called Amaju Pinnick should also answer questions about the terrible state of Nigerian football. Bunch of charlatans.”
“How about Pinnick Amaju? When will he resign from the patron position?” @ntonghapraiz asked.
