Nigerians turn heat on Uzoho, Okoye after Algeria blunders; call for Enyeama's return heighten

Nigerians have taken to social media to slam the Super Eagles goalkeepers Francis Uzoho and Maduka Okoye.

Francis Uzoho's failure to deal with Youcef Atal’s 40 yards strike aided Algeria to a 2-1 victory against Nigeria in last night's friendly.

The in-form Lorient striker, Terem Moffi gave the Super Eagles an early lead inside just nine minutes before Manchester City forward Riyad Mahrez draw the home side level from the spot before the break.

Prior to last night's friendly, Watford goalkeeper Maduka Okoye had given away a cheap goal when Nigeria played a 2-2 draw with Algeria's B side on Friday, September 23.

You may recall that it is not the first time the two goalkeepers' blunders have caused the national team.

Maduka Okoye's goalkeeping error caused the Super Eagles to crash out of the 2021 Nations Cup after the three-time African champions lost by a lone goal to Tunisia in the knockout stage.

Francis Uzoho replicated a similar error when he failed to deal with a Thomas Partey strike causing Nigeria a ticket to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Upset by the goalkeeping howlers which have become once too many, some Super Eagles fanatics took to their social media handles to aim a dig at Francis Uzoho and Maduka Okoye.

Interestingly, some fans called for the return of 40-year-old Vincent Enyeama who has retired from the national team.
