Nigeria vs Guinea-Bissau: Five key Super Eagles stars to watch

Super Eagles Super Eagles

As the Super Eagles get set for their 2023 AFCON qualifier clash against Guinea-Bissau later today (March 24, 2023), we put the spotlight on five key Super Eagles players who can be instrumental to Jose Peseiro's side in their bid to secure early qualification to the next edition of the continental showpiece.

Victor Osimhen

All eyes will be on the Napoli frontman who has been dominating the headlines in Europe this season.

The 24-year-old will feature for the Super Eagles for the first time since the 2022/2023 season began.

The Super Eagles striker missed Nigeria's friendlies against Algeria and Portugal.

Osimhen was a four-goal hero in his last appearance for Nigeria as the Super Eagles demolished Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 in Morocco last year.

Having netted 21 goals in Serie A plus 4 goals in the UEFA Champions League, football-loving fans of Nigeria will be looking forward to a masterclass performance from the masked man against Guinea-Bissau.

Wilfred Ndidi

Wilfred Ndidi will feature for the Super Eagles for the first time in over a year.

The Leicester City midfielder who has battled with injuries in the past year is yet to kick a ball for the Super Eagles under current Coach Jose Peseiro.

Ndidi missed Nigeria's World Cup playoffs against Ghana last year as well as the two Nations Cup qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe.

Fans will look forward to Ndidi's return to the Super Eagles team after a long absence.

Bright Osaye-Samuel

The high-flying Fenerbahce fullback was outstanding for the Super Eagles in their last game against Portugal in November last year.

Despite the Super Eagles suffering a humiliating 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Euro 2016 winners, the impressive performance of Osaye-Samuel was one of the positives fans could pick from the encounter.

Fans will be looking forward to another enterprising performance from the young fullback against Guinea-Bissau.

Terem Moffi

Terem Moffi is undoubtedly one of the best-performing Nigerian players in Europe this season.

Having scored 15 goals in 24 appearances in the French league, fans will hope he can replicate the same performance for the Super Eagles against the Djurtus.

The 23-year-old has managed 2 goals in 7 caps for the national team.

Ademola Lookman

Ademola Lookman is arguably the best Serie A signing this season.

The 25-year-old has been phenomenal for Gian Piero Gasperini's side since joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig last summer.

Despite his dry spell of goals in recent times, the ex-Leicester City forward is a player to watch out for against Guinea-Bissau.

Lookman has managed 14 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions for Atalanta this season.
