Former Nigeria international, Nduka Ugbade has warned that the countries dominance on the FIFI U17 tournament will dwindle if major steps are not taken to halt the current decline at the age-grade national teams.

Nigeria's Golden Eaglet is the most successful team in the tournament winning it five times in 1985, 1993, 2007, 2013, and 2015.

Speaking in a chat with Brila.net, Ugbade lamented that it is unfortunate that Nigeria has refused to grow and flow with the trend at the youth and junior level to have come to an all-time low where the nation’s Football team now struggle at the regional level having been known as a world powerhouse.

“Things are changing and if you’re not ready to follow the trend, you will be left behind and when you’re left behind, you will now start your own journey. These ones they’ve gone and we might never be able to win the U17 again if we are not doing anything to arrest the situation.”
