Nigerian winger, Moses Simon, is delighted to have extended his contract with his French club Nantes for another two years despite offers from Olympique Marseille and Lyon, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Simon arrived in the summer of 2019 from Levante and has scored 29 times and bagged 31 assists in 163 games for the club.

He also helped the Canaries end their 21-year trophy drought by beating Nice 1-0 at the Stade de France in the Coupe de France final in 2022 to lift a fourth Coupe de France title in their history.

Ludovic Blas was the hero with a second-half penalty.

Reacting to his new deal, the former Gent star said, “I am delighted to continue the adventure here and very happy to stay in Nantes! I am ready to continue fighting to help the team go as high as possible. What is certain is that This contract extension is a real proof of confidence in the Club, as well as in the team.”

The 28-year-old has scored three goals and provided five assists in 17 Ligue 1 games for Nantes so far this season.

Nantes also praised the Nigerian for keeping faith with the club.

“Simon has chosen to extend his adventure at FC Nantes until 2026. The Nigeria international has become one of the cogs in the locker room over the seasons. “Explosive, hard-hitting and goalscorer, the attacking midfielder continues the matches. It now has 163 in all competitions with the Club des Rives de l’Erdre.”

“Attached to the club and eager to continue the adventure in this Nantes jersey, number 27 of Yellow and Green will continue to bring his experience to the group and bring the La Beaujoire audience to their feet!”

Last season, Moses was instrumental in guiding Nantes to safety, and with the club once again mired in a relegation battle this time around, he is expected to be a key figure again this season and beyond.

Nantes are currently 13th in the Ligue 1 with 18 points from 17 games – four above the relegation zone.
