Ndidi labels Poland friendly ‘important test’ for Super Eagles

Wilfred Ndidi Wilfred Ndidi

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi believes the international friendly against Poland will provide a valuable test for the team.

Éric Chelle’s men will line up against their hosts tonight at the PGE Narodowy Stadium, Warsaw.

Ndidi confident of victory

Ndidi stated that the match would provide a clear measure of the Super Eagles’ preparedness for upcoming challenges.

“Of course it’s about winning, but development also counts. A match against such a top rival as Poland will be a good test for our vision for the future,” Ndidi was quoted by przegladsportowy.onet.

On previous meeting with Poland

This will be only the second meeting between the two countries, following their previous encounter in Wrocław in March 2018.

Former Chelsea winger Victor Moses converted a penalty to score the decisive goal as the Super Eagles secured a 1-0 victory.

Ndidi reflected on the match, which formed part of the Super Eagles’ preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

“I remember it was a great match in an amazing atmosphere, and we won. But that was eight years ago. What matters now is what will happen tomorrow, how well we have prepared ourselves, how motivated we are,” added Ndidi.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to play Portugal in another friendly match next Wednesday in Leiria.
