The coach of Nasarawa United Silas Nwankwo has watered down the chances of his side in the league this year despite reclaiming the top spot in the league after Thursday’s 3-0 win over Dakada FC.

Speaking in a chat with Brila.net, Nwankwo said his side are still underdogs in the race for the league title.

He said that his side knew what possibilities abound looking at the league table before playing Thursday’s match and stressed that the chance to go top was enough motivation to beat the visiting side.

He thereafter stressed that they want to consolidate on the position on top of the NPFL.

“Before the game, we already saw the table, we did the permutations and all that. The goals were just coming in because we really wanted to get the goals and the win and at the end of the game we are topping the table. We aspired to top the table and at the end of week 16, we are top of the table.

We are taking the game one after the other and now that we are top we want to sustain that and we are still the underdog.”
