Victor Osimhen is racing against time to be fit ahead of Napoli's Serie A clash against Lecce and their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal first-leg tie against AC Milan.

According to reports, Napoli's medical team is working non-stop to ensure that the 24-year-old returns to fitness ahead of the two crucial games ahead.

The 24-year-old sustained a muscle injury while on international duty with Nigeria in the Nations Cup qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau.

The Super Eagles striker underwent treatment at Castel Volturno on Tuesday, April 4 to be examined by the club's doctors.

Osimhen missed Napoli's last game against AC Milan in the Serie A last weekend as the champions thumped the leaders 4-0 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Sky Sports reports that Friday's Serie A clash away at Lecce will decide whether the leading top scorer in the Italian topflight will be available for the UCL clash against Milan.

Other reports indicate that the ex-Lille man will not be available for the UCL first leg against AC Milan.

“Yesterday the Nigerian (Osimhen) only underwent physiotherapy, because in this type of injury rest becomes an effective remedy. Only in the next few days will he undergo new tests to evaluate the distraction injury to the left adductor, which emerged last Friday, on his return from the African trip. There’s no hurry because you want to be sure of the healing of the muscle problem and Lecce is certainly not the goal,” the paper wrote.

The runaway Serie A leaders will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways when they travel away to Lecce in their next league encounter.
