Napoli president speaks on Osimhen’s contract renewal after TikTok video controversy

Napoli President Aurelio de Laurentiis has spoken about the contract renewal for Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen after the TikTok video controversy.

The Nigerian international has been in the news in recent weeks due to the issue he had with the Italian club over a video posted on TikTok after missing a penalty against Bologna.

The former Lille striker has since absolved the club and the fans in Naples of any blame despite the dragging from Nigerian fans.

The former Wolfsburg star is being linked with a move to other clubs due to the issue and was initially on the verge of reaching an agreement with Napoli on a contract extension beyond the end of his current, which would expire in the summer of 2025.

According to Tutto Napoli as per Soccernet, the Parteponei owner, De Laurentiis is not bothered about the issue, claiming that there are no concerns over Osimhen's contract renewal talks.

"There is no problem, there is never a problem: everyone in Napoli is always happy; the problem is when they leave, they can no longer find the main road," he said.

The Italian also showered praises on the Nigerian superstar, emphasising his abilities and strengths.

"Always strong, he is a player who makes a team on his own. That’s not up for debate," he added.
