Nagelsmann, Enrique, two others shortlisted to replace Potter at Chelsea

Graham Potter Graham Potter

Names of some top football managers have emerged following the sacking of Graham Potter as Chelsea boss on Sunday, April 2.

The former Brighton and Hove Albion manager was relieved of his duties following Chelsea's 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge last Saturday, April 1.

In a statement, the club wrote: “Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future.”

Potter, 47, was in charge at the London club for just six months. He managed 7 wins, 7 draws and 8 defeats in 22 appearances for the Blues.

The Englishman also scored 21 goals for the club and conceded the same number of goals.

Potter also failed to find the back of the net in 9 of the 22 games in charge.

Let's consider four top football managers who have been rumoured as Potter's potential replacement at Chelsea.

Julian Nagelsmann

The young German coach has been tipped as a huge favourite to land the vacant role at Chelsea.

The 35-year-old was surprisingly sacked by Bayern Munich as head coach last month and he was quickly replaced by former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.

Nagelsmann was mentioned yesterday during the club's internal discussions as the club considered Nagelsmann a talented coach, Fabrizio Romano reports.

Zinedine Zidane

The former Real Madrid legend and coach has also been mentioned as one of the candidates to take over at Stamford Bridge.

Zizou has been out of a job since 2021 when stepped down as manager of Real Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane is the only manager to win the UEFA Champions League three times in a row.

Luiz Henrique

The former Spain and Barcelona manager has also been linked to the Chelsea job.

Luiz Enrique stepped down as coach for the Spanish national team following the disappointment at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar when La Roja were ousted by Morocco in the last 16 stage.

Luiz Henrique won a treble with Barcelona in 2015.

Mauricio Pochettino

The Argentine tactician who has been out of job since July 2022 has also been linked to the vacant role at Chelsea.

Pochettino parted ways with Paris Saint-Germain in July 2022 after replacing Thomas Tuchel at the club based in the French capital.

The ex-PSG defender won the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France with French champions.
