NPFL: 2022/23 season to kick-off January 8

The 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League season is scheduled to kick off on January 8, 2023.

The new date was agreed on after a meeting between the Interim Management Committee (IMC) and the club owners in Abuja on Wednesday night.

The new league season was initially scheduled to begin on Wednesday, December 28 with the draw ceremony set to hold next week Wednesday in Abuja.

The IMC and the clubs also agreed to go ahead with an abridged league format as against the usual full-season format that has been used over the years, Daily Post reports.

Rivers United won the NPFL title last season.
