NIG vs ITA: Watch how Okocha completed 15 dribbles in the R16 at the 1994 World Cup

A video of former Super Eagles captain, Jay Jay Okocha dribbling past his opponents has made the rounds on social media.

Okocha, who was regarded as one of the greatest dribblers in world football exhibited his skill in the game as the team faced Italy in the second round of the 1994 World Cup in the USA.

The video was shared by a popular sports journalist Oluwashina Okeleji as he celebrated Okocha as he marked his 50th birthday.

"Happy Birthday Austin Jay-Jay @official_jj10 Okocha. The midfielder completed 15 dribbles for #NGA vs #ITA in the round of 16 at the 1994 World Cup," Oluwashina captioned the video.

Congratulatory messages also poured in from former clubs, the Nigeria Football Federation as well as the world governing body FIFA as he clocked 50.

Born on August 14, 1973 in Enugu, Okocha made his name playing for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, the Olympics and the World Cup, before retiring from international football in 2006. After playing for Enugu Rangers in Nigeria, he also featured for seven clubs in Europe and Asia.

Okocha had 73 caps for Nigeria, with the NFF giving him a shoutout on his golden jubilee.

“Happy birthday to former Super Eagles midfielder and captain Augustine ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha, who turns 50 today (Monday). Hearty cheers Jay-Jay. So good, they named you twice,” the NFF message read.
