The hunt for the next Super Eagles coach continues to dominate the discussion around the football circles following the resignation of Jose Peseiro earlier this month.

Despite his impressive campaign at the 2023 African Cup of Nations, the Portuguese gaffer failed to reach a conclusive agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over a possible contract extension.

The NFF have received applications from a flurry of coaches from locals to expatriates and foreign coaches who have expressed keen interest in becoming the next Super Eagles coach.

Names of former stars like Emmanuel Amunike, Nigeria Football Federation (, Daniel Amokachi, have all reportedly submitted their applications to the NFF for the vacant role.

US-based Nigerian coach Michael Nsien has also expressed his interest in taking up the role left by the former Sporting Lisbon manager.

Meanwhile, emerging reports as per ThisDay indicate that the NFF's technical committee tasked to appoint new coaches are currently considering a world-class coach who is outside the list of applicants at their disposal.

The rationale is that the current crop of Super Eagles players with their quality need a coach of high pedigree to lead the team.

Among the foreign managers who have expressed interest in the Super Eagles vacancy are Antonio Conceicao and former assistant to Pep Guardiola, Dominic Torrent, as per Sportsbrief

Finidi George for the interim will lead the team for their upcoming friendlies against rivals Ghana and Mali in Morocco.
