NFF interim presidency race heats up: Soname, Pinnick, Odegbami in contention

The race for the NFF interim presidency is gathering momentum after Ibrahim Gusau's resignation, with Kunle Soname, Amaju Pinnick, and Segun Odegbami reportedly among the names being considered.

Reports suggest the National Sports Commission (NSC) is particularly considering Kunle Soname, the Remo Stars owner, to oversee the transition. Former NFF president Amaju Pinnick and ex-Super Eagles captain Segun Odegbami have also emerged as possible options.

However, the NFF has not formally confirmed any interim appointment. The next leadership will inherit a federation facing major challenges following Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the Super Falcons’ absence from the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
