Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro has compared captain Ahmed Musa to Cristiano Ronaldo after the conversation about his retirement popped up in a pre-match interview.

Musa who has played 107 times for the Super Eagles making him the most-capped player for the team responded to critics who have called for his retirement.

In the interview, Musa called on those calling for his retirement to where they were when he was in fine form for the team.

All those people that are asking Musa to retire, when Musa was doing good, where were they?

So definitely we know in our country that whoever they call, they have to talk. But I don't have to listen to anyone. I am the one doing my job and if my body tells me to stop, I will stop."

"But I am playing constantly in my club and I get a call-up to the national team, why do you want me to retire?"

“The coach who invited me knows better and as a patriotic Nigerian, I can’t decline my national team invitation after so much sacrifice."

“I don’t listen to those who are clamoring for my retirement. I remain focused on my career. Whoever is invited, people must talk, so, why should I listen to their comments”, he fired back at his critics.

In his reaction to the criticism, Peseiro said the conversation can be likened to one currently in Portugal about the 38-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo.

"All I want to say is Ahmed, don't take care, it is the same in Portugal with Ronaldo," he said.
